I have recently become obsessed with collecting books for my future elementary classroom. I look forward to creating an online library of some of my favorites and planning how I will use each book in my classroom.
Chicka Chicka Boom Boom
This text is about the alphabet and each letter gets to the top of a coconut tree. Unfortunately, with all of the letters in the coconut tree, the tree is full and all of the letters fall out. This text could be used as a fun way to learn letters since it has a fun rhyme and saying throughout the text. In my classroom, I could build a coconut tree out of tin cans and paper. I could place magnetic letters by the tree so students could reenact the story and learn their letters. Also, it could be fun to assign a letter to each student and let them act out the story. The Lexile level for the beloved story, Chicka Chicka Boom Boom, is AD530L.
